Learning arabic

I have been learning bits and pieces of arabic over the years.  During the month of June, I am going to spend maybe 20 minutes per day on learning how to speak, read and write.  The main tools to learn arabic that I hope to use are Rosetta Stone and a few books.  Also, I am fortunate enough to have some friends with whom I can practice my arabic.

By the end of the month, I hope to be able to have short conversation.  I figure if I can get over the short conversation I can improve my pronunciation and vocabulary much faster.

June 1st

Learn (at least briefly) how to say:

  • he
  • she
  • eat
  • drink
  • run
  • read
  • boy
  • girl
  • man
  • women

I don’t remember them right now.  But I will tomorrow!

June 2nd

Worked on learning a few words and their spellings.  In the process of  learning the different ending for verbs and plurals of nouns.

June 3rd

Am learning a few letters of the alphabet.  Baa is the only one so far.  Next week I might add some arabic and more stuff that might help other people learn arabic…

Well, unfortunately I haven’t focused on learning on arabic as much as I would have liked!  I am putting this on hold for a bit, though I was starting to get a little bit better – I just ended up having a lot to look after.
