In honor of the New Year, and also the publishing of the e-book by Mike C. at fit-juice.com, I am doing a 14 day juicing challenge. Though I started on Tuesday, the 13th of January, I am counting the 14th as my first day. On the 13th , I bought fairly freshly squeezed juice from Whole Foods. I will probably continue to do so on occasion but hopefully I will juice my own stuff and/or get it from somewhere that juices organic and fresh. (Yes! Organic markets in DC juice fresh organic fruits and vegetables. All you have to do is ask)
I would like to do a full 30 days, but I may not be able to in the next month due to international travel.
Pre-game
On the 13th, I bought an 8 ounce drink from Whole Foods from $6.99. It had pear, parsley, ginger, pineapple and some other stuff. When I go back I will doublecheck what was included. The pro’s of Whole Foods is that (1) it’s ready to drink, (2) good quality. Also, you can get (3) fresh-squeezed OJ from the machine for a decent price. The drawbacks are it’s (1) $7, (2) possibly not organic, (3) in plastic, (4) not clear when it was juiced.
Day 1, Jan 14th
I had some produce from Whole Foods, so I remembered to juice it.
- 1 apple
- ginger
- 5 carrots
- 5 leaves of chard
- 2 small beets
It turned out pretty well. I added ice cubes, which I always like. I may juice a pomegranate on the 15th.
Fit Juice Trilogy
Please note while I do recommend the Fit Juice Trilogy, I am an affiliate and would get a commission if you purchased the e-books. I would recommend everyone interested in juicing checking out the books. Buying the books is a good possibility, but not necessary. The site fit-juice.com has a lot of the same info and recipes for free. There’s lots of other resources on the web as well. And it’s not really that hard to juice decently on your own anyways.
