Here’s a couple videos I recorded with the Apogee MiC onto an iPhone. The sound quality is pretty good. The video quality could be better but that was expected. Please note that the microphone is mono.

Great app to improve rhythmic accuracy
Anyone who has an iPhone, iPad, etc might find Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer by Rolfs Apps a good way to work on their time, coordination and reading skills. I don’t remember spending the $3 on the app but it definitely has been worth the value. (Originally published Jan 14, 2014) Behind, on top, or in front? […]
Here’s a version my friends and I recorded. Violin, guitar and bass. Hope you enjoy! Check out a pop/classical album with violin and electric bass I helped to create – Entrance Outside.
Horn players and singers need to stay in touch with their breathing. Bass players and drummers are tied to the groove – if they lose the groove it’s immediatedly obvious. Guitar players could learn from both. Remember to breath deeply especially when you are playing challenging music. It will help you keep better time and […]
Check out part one here. So here’s another video with audio over layering. I figured out some stuff. I’m also working on getting better at doing all the non-musical stuff faster so I create more higher quality music videos. I did it during the day so I had a lot of daylight filtering which was […]
Learning to create better videos
So I’m in the process of learning how to create more visually strong videos for YouTube. I got a black back drop and some extra lighting. I did a sound and video check here: I used GarageBand set to 24 bits to record the tracks and then videotaped the guitar solo. iMovie doesn’t seem to […]

Here’s a slow blues with Count Basie and Niels O-P and C Jam Blues with Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen. Oscar Peterson & Count Basie – Slow BluesWatch this video on YouTube Oscar Peterson – […]
Learning Alone Together
For all you aspiring jazz guitarists – check out the Jazz Guitar Forums. I particularly like the Practical Standards Group. Folks are very supportive of other folks efforts to create music in the jazz realm. I’ve definitely learned a lot because the recording process forces you come to terms with your playing at that moment […]
Learning music by ear and by sight
I had an interesting conversation with a fellow local musician after a game of soccer. At some point the conversation turned towards having a great ear. I told him that since I could sight read pretty well, I hadn’t developed my ear as much as I wanted to. For some reason, I almost always skip […]
