How to make a good smoothie

I love fruit smoothies.  Here’s how I make one and the ingredients I use.  I always use bananas and then add whatever frozen fruit I have.  You can use non-frozen fruit to but I just happen to have a lot of frozen fruit around.  Usually I just use bananas, strawberries, milk, water and hemp seeds.

  • 2 bananas
  • frozen strawberries
  • frozen blackberries
  • frozen blueberries
  • frozen spinach or kale
  • frozen mangoes
  • hemp or flax seeds
  • almonds
  • honey
  • water
  • milk or juice or tea
  • spices (cayenne, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves)
  1. put 2 bananas in
  2. loosely fill blender with frozen fruit almost to level of the  top of the bananas
  3. fill 1/2 up to the top of the bananas with milk or juice
  4. fill almost to the top of the bananas with water
  5. add hemp/flax seeds and maybe some almonds

2018 Update

I stopped using hemp and flax seeds, but not really for any particular reason.  I’ve started to use dried vegetable powder (with cacao) a lot time.  I think it may help and it probably doesn’t hurt.  Plus I like the chocolate flavor!
