What is musical courage? Consider these possibilities:
- You want to play something, no one seems interested, but you play it anyways
- You want to impress someone, but you play what is best for the music
- You choose to play something that might sound bad or crass and burn
- You take the time to practice new material and improve the sound of the music/group/yourself
- You introduce new ideas/sounds/feels into a static situation
- You try to play from your heart, you listen…
- You go for it
- You raise the level of playing
- You don’t try, you just let it flow – you give up your worries
- The music falters and you keep it going and bring it back
- You face your fears on the bandstand
- You get kicked out of the band/don’t make the audition but you don’t give up
