I just bought Singing Success online (May 25th, 2010).
One, I want to be able to sing and play guitar in a variety of styles including rock, blues, jazz, reggae, samba, flamenco (!?), salsa, folk and r&b.
Two, I want to make my own album where I play all instruments and sing.
Three, if the program works well, I will be able to recommend it to others and hopefully make some commision from sales for singing success.
Four, if you have a website, consider doing the same!
Five, I believe singing improves one’s overall musicality, and singing and drums make up the foundation of almost all music.
Within 6 months, I plan to recover the $$$ (about 200, unless you find a used copy for less) spent by playing a few gigs where I sing and also hopefully on commission (assuming the product is good enough to endorse). I have always wanted to sing at Potbelly’s, though I don’t know if they have live music anymore. And around the campfire and at the beach. And as a backup singer, too.
I believe that a real teacher would be a better way to learn to sing. And I may actually find a real teacher once I feel a little more comfortable singing. But perhaps Singing Success will prove to be a close second for a beginning student. I have done some vocal exercises on youtube and have learned quite a bit. My voice has improved quite a lot. But to get to the next “level”, a broader understanding of singing will probably help me.
In terms of reviews, the 3 main things people say are:
- It’s great!
- Customer service isn’t good, if you return it, they don’t give you a refund
- The exercises on the tapes are common knowledge, you should just a get a good teacher
If someone was to learn to sing on their own, it seems like there are two main things to do. One, sing along to songs. Two, practice scales, usually with a piano or guitar. If you aren’t a “natural”, you would also work on the mechanics of singing as well.
Well, that’s it for right now. I am going to record some singing before the course so you can get a feel of before and after! I hope to post my singing progress throughout the learning process which I assume will be about 4-6 months.
Fall 2020 Update (everything from here on): I don’t remember much about the Singing Success course, but please check my Fall 2020 – I’m happy to say I’ve learned a lot about singing! Though I will say I am still very much a beginner!
Practice Makes Progress
If you want to sing – I say go for it!
It’s great for musicality and it’s fun.
If singing comes “easy” to you, that’s great!
If you feel like you’re struggling, considering finding a great teacher! I am blessed to have found a great teacher and I am seeing progress though it took some patience and many years.
Remember Practice Makes Progress!
All the best and peace and love!
